Viva Latvia

There is an article about the Survival Kit project on the New York based ArtSlant. Look here: http://www.artslant.com/ny/articles/show/10048 .  There is also a small description of the last match project, and even two pictures. One you can figure out yourself, on the other are the apples which we distributed at the opening…

more pictures you can of course find here on the “exhibition pictures” section and on http://www.flickr.com/photos/thelastmatch

exhibition started

On the 12th of September at Baltanakts the exhibition started with lots of visitors and will be open for more visitors to Lacplesu iela 37 until the 19th of September.

last days before the exhibition

Now we have 144 last matches from 38 different countries.  At Saturday the exhibition will open at Baltanakts in the framework of the Survival Kit Project in Riga. People from abroad may follow the exhibition right here and take a closer look at all the artworks on http://www.flickr.com/photos/thelastmatch

People who are in Riga we advise to go and see it in real at Lacplesu iela 37 between the 12th and the 19th September, because in real the works look much nicer than on our photos.

the making of…

the matchbox exhibition

In march 2009 we started to organize the matchbox exhibition which will for the first time be shown this September in Riga, Latvia. Already used to make low budget exhibitions we decided to make the best out of it and to invite at least 200 artists to create an exhibition which fits into no more than 7 matchboxes. Up to now 62 artists from all over the world promised to take part and already 8 of them sent us their work (who you can see on the bar on the right side). To get more info about the exhibition click on the page exhibition brief and we recommend to click in once in a while to see how the exhibition preparation is proceeding and who else is participating. At last in September you should check to see if we succeeded and to finally also see some pictures of the art, because before that we will not disclose anything.
