Organizer
komikss magazine kush! (www.komikss.lv) in co-operation with the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art (www.lcca.lv)
Idea
Since it had to be a low budget exhibition, we decided to invite a lot of artists to design each one little piece about the theme “the last match”.
Every artist designs one piece in the size of a matchbox which will be hung on a match. The papers are collected in matchboxes. In one matchbox fit 25 artworks, up to know the exhibition contains 155 artist from 38 countries.
Exhibition place
First time from 12/09/09-19/09/09 as part of the Survival Kit art event in Riga in a former shop, after travelling to different festivals and galleries.
The individual artwork
It is on a paper in the size fitting in to a matchbox: 32 mm * 52 mm. On the front it has a drawing about „the last match“. On the back of each paper the artist writes his name. Like this all the artworks hang next to each other anonymously, but there is a list in the exhibition to see who made what. One paper looks about like this:

Participate
We sent you an e-mail and if you decide to take part you send us your address. Then we will send you the paper to draw on and the newest issue of our magazine in compensation for your work. After you draw on the paper, sign it on the back and send it to us until august and when we receive it we update this homepage with your name to keep everybody informed who is taking part in the exhibition.
